intro-conclusion:
Marie sits in the waiting room of her family doctor office. Tommy, her 5 year old son, bounces on the couch next to her. A closer look at Marie’s eyes revel redness and bags from lack of sleep. Marie is here to discuss Tommy’s behavior with the doctor. Back in the doctor’s office, Marie tells Dr. Herbert that Tommy doesn’t listen to anything she says and is always bouncing around. Here is where a normal reader would pause and tell Marie to stop feeding Tommy popsicles for lunch and cookies for dinner and that a time out every once in a while wouldn’t harm him. Then why is that a PhD. Trained doctor would say little Tommy has a mental disorder? The disorder is ADHD.
Conclusion:
After extensive research on ADHD, and a second opinion from another doctor, Marie decides that instead of giving Tommy Ritalin or Adderall, She is going to watch what she feeds him and follow a 7 step parenting plan set out by a top physician. Only a few weeks into this “alternate” and cheap treatment, Tommy is already straightening up. His grades have greatly improved and he is joining the local tee-ball team. His first practice is tonight and Marie couldn’t be happier.

Random weekly number 2
I find my subject more and more interesting. The more I look up. I missed the extra credit this week and was disappointed by it. I see all my friends already writing their papers and glad that I get all this time to research my work. It gives me time to find more sources for it.

-Food is the cause of this condition. It's poor nutrition and too many sweets that make a child hyper.
- "Let's face it -- the human brain is a flesh and blood organ, and it is strongly influenced by blood chemistry, which is, in turn, dictated almost entirely by diet. What you eat, in other words, determines what your blood composition looks like, and what your blood composition looks like determines the way your brain functions. "
- "when you eat processed foods containing additives and artificial colors, you are introducing toxic chemicals into your bloodstream. Those chemicals find their way into the brain and alter brain function"
- "But it isn't just food additives -- it's also refined carbohydrates. People who eat large quantities of white bread (or food containing refined white flour) also suffer from mental disorders. These can include depression, aggression and violent behavior, and learning disabilities. "

Wednesday 4/7/10
My thesis(choices):
- ADHD is a disease that we as humans created in order to drug our children.
- Parents drug their kids without reason.
- We are a drugging our children to make our lifes easier.
Further research on: ADD: did we create it?
- What is it? Google health had a lot to say about it( Link ) It is said to be inattentiveness, over activity or both.
- What are the signs of it? Google health listed what to me sounded just like a kid with too much sugar. "fails to pay close attention to details, difficulty sustaining attention, doesn't listen when spoken to, doesn't follow instructions, hates schoolwork) They all sound familiar to me.
- How do we cure it? Most children are put on medications such as: Methylphenidate (Ritalin, Concerta, Metadate, Daytrana,Dexmethylphenidate (Focalin),Amphetamine-dextroamphetamine (Adderall), Dextroamphetamine (Dexedrine, Dextrostat), Lisdexamfetamine (Vyvanse) But what do they do?
- -Methylphenidate: speeds up mental processes. used also to treat narsolepsy. I found this in a medical site (link) "THE MODE OF ACTION IN MAN IS NOT COMPLETELY UNDERSTOOD" How safe can that be? Oh and it also can stunt growth and weight gain. And that's just one drug.
- Another thing google warns you about is it causing sudden deaths in children with heart problems.
- It says ADHD is genetic. If that is so then everyone must have it.
I didn't want my bog to just be about what it is. So I started trying to find sites that agree with me that it is fake.
This isn't what I found however. I found a site saying it was proven to exist.
- Link it states that dophimine levels are what is affected.

Research choices
1. Chemotherapy, is it helping or hurting?
2. Are women still being taking advantage of?
3. ADD: Did we create it?
I chose the first one because one of my friends brought up that some people refuse chemo because they don't want to feel miserable for the last days they may be alive. I feel that women are constantly being taken advantage of and I want t find statistics that prove it. And the last one is the one I will probably do. I feel like every child now and days is diagnosed with ADD. I want to know if we created it.
