Intro:
Marie sits in the waiting room of her family doctor office. Tommy, her 5 year old son, bounces on the couch next to her. A closer look at Marie’s eyes revel redness and bags from lack of sleep. Marie is here to discuss Tommy’s behavior with the doctor. Back in the doctor’s office, Marie tells Dr. Herbert that Tommy doesn’t listen to anything she says and is always bouncing around. Here is where a normal reader would pause and tell Marie to stop feeding Tommy popsicles for lunch and cookies for dinner and that a time out every once in a while wouldn’t harm him. Then why is that a PhD. Trained doctor would say little Tommy has a mental disorder? The disorder is ADHD.
Conclusion:
After extensive research on ADHD, and a second opinion from another doctor, Marie decides that instead of giving Tommy Ritalin or Adderall, She is going to watch what she feeds him and follow a 7 step parenting plan set out by a top physician. Only a few weeks into this “alternate” and cheap treatment, Tommy is already straightening up. His grades have greatly improved and he is joining the local tee-ball team. His first practice is tonight and Marie couldn’t be happier.
